Local Search and Rescue Groups Benefit from Sponsorship

Castlegar Society for Search and Rescue is please to announce that they will be The Participating Sponsor for a trade promotion Coupon Book set to be released in the West Kootenay area this August. The Castlegar group will be sharing the proceeds with the groups in Nelson, South Columbia (Fruitvale), Rossland, and Salmo.
“We do so much mutual support work with one another, it only makes sense to share this great opportunity with all Search and Rescue volunteers in the West Kootenays,†states Barb Ihlen, President of Castlegar Society for Search and Rescue. “We receive $1,500 upfront from this promotion through the Treasure Chest. In general, we will receive $3.00 on each coupon book sold in our area.â€
Ihlen explains that even though Search and Rescue groups provide services to the RCMP, BC Ambulance Service, and the Coroner’s Office, they receive no funding from any government body – federal, provincial, or municipal. BC search and rescue groups are totally reliant on donations from individuals and organizations to purchase needed equipment and enhance the skills of volunteers.
“Our volunteers are selfless and use their specialized skills to ensure the best possible emergency response to those in need of our services.â€
